Days Later

Well, I guess I figured out why I wasn't able to do more for the dang garage sale.

I guess I figured it out in a big way.

Sick.
Sick.
Sick.

Bad timing for being sick.

Very bad timing.

Good thing I had my big girl with me to hold my hand while I was getting a big fat shot in the butt.

Good think I had my big kids at home to take care of each other and the sweet baby while I was out of it for a few days.

I think I am almost alive again today.

I think.

Fingers crossed.

Cleaning House Clearing Head

We had a garage sale today.
We are having it again tomorrow.
The trouble is, I am too tired to get out anymore stuff.
We have so much that can be sold.
We need every.single.penny. we can get.
I just can't do it anymore.
Ugh.

I hear that once you clear your house from the clutter, it helps begin the process of clearing your head. I'm gonna work on that.

Summer Goals
Love our kids.
Alone time with JC. (crazy, huh?)
Spend time with our family.
Spend time with our dear friends.
Clean house - clear head.
Write letters.
Encourage kids to write letters.
5 home cooked meals a week sitting at dinner table - all 7.
Begin putting kids pictures in photo albums.
Become a stronger swimmer.

Making this list was kinda like counting sheep. :)

It's Time

I have been blog absent again. But I guess you figured that out.

Things have just been nuts around here. Seems like it is hard to find the time to put thoughts together.

I think a lot about things I want to post. And then I sit down to do it. At 2am. And then I realize that it is nuts and I should just try to sleep.

But now it is summer. And I am going to do my best. Because I like to blog. Because I like the life documentation. Because I have a lot to say. And because I learn a lot from myself when I sit down and write it down and then look at it the next day.

So here goes.
Can you even stand it?
Yeah, me either.

Driving Me Nuts

(don't you just love the mailbox that my sweetie made me for Christmas)

Last week I was standing outside talking on the phone. It was around 9:30pm. The weirdest thing happened. A man drove up in a white Toyota pickup with a white camper. He sat in front of our house for a few minutes. Then he got out, walked over to the mailbox and hung a handful of paper towels from the mardi gras beads.

I called out 'hey there'.
No response.

I said 'can I help you'.
No response.

Then I said 'what are those for'.
Nothing.

I know he could hear me because I was off the phone and walking towards him up the stairs.

He got in his truck and drove away.

It is driving me nuts.
Who does stuff like that?

Jeff says to stop worrying about it.
I can't, it is driving me nuts.

Jeff says if I hadn't been out there to see it happen, I would never know because the paper towels would have probably blown away.

I think I saw the truck driving down the street today.
It was all I could do to not get in the car and chase after it.

It might be kinda hard to explain to the kids why I was screaming at them to get in the car and why we were chasing the white truck.

Besides, I am no good at conflict/confrontation.

Ugh.
Really paper towel dude.
Why did you do this to me?

(I kinda hope you step in an ant pile the next time you do this to someone.)

24 strings and one noisy piece of junk

(family guitar time)

For some, this is noise.

For me, this is one of the sounds I have been waiting for my whole life.

P.S. You might notice that the one with the noisy piece of junk is also eating a donut, drinking a milk cup and yelling at the dog while he practices!

the beach

“The cure for anything is salt water -

sweat, tears, or the sea.”

~Isak Dinesen

(heaven)

I love my new blog header.
I was starting to feel like the old one looked cheesy.
I am worried that this one gives the sense that I am depressed.
Maybe I am.

We traveled visit Jeff's grandparents a few weeks ago. It was a bittersweet trip. Jeff's grandma was in the hospital (now in hospice) and the older kids verbalized what the grownups were thinking...this is the last time we come to Pensacola to visit our great grandparents.
Big thoughts.
Tough and sad feelings.

(great grandparents enjoy each other, the beach and watching the kids play.)

We had a great time on the beach. All 7 of us could stay on the beach for hours and hours and hours. The beach renews us. It takes us away. We can play. Rest. Laugh. Cry. Sit and take it all in. We will go back to Pensacola.
It is in our blood.
In the blood of our kids.
Pensacola will be the place that our kids tell stories about. Crazy long road trips, sandwiches, road side parks, and great grandparents.
The very best great grandparents.
And the beach.
