Oh what a special day. My JC turned 40! We had talked about having a little gathering with our dear friends - but that didn't work out. And I had hoped to do something really special for him - but he was very clear that he didn't want any of that business either. So, we got up early and went to breakfast at Kerby Lane.
After his softball game, we came home, ate dinner and had cake and gifts. We made his favorite Jell-o brand boxed home style cheesecake. Apparently, his mom use to make it when he was a kid and so it has carried on that I have made it for the last 19 years. It is getting harder and harder to find - I don't know what we will do when they stop selling it.
The first gift that he opened was from Miles. It is a God's eye that he made for him.
We all have had lots of fun with this 40th birthday. He also received a lot of birthday phone calls from old friends.
All and all, it turned out to be a really fun day. Hard to believe that my JC is 40 - it seems like yesterday that we were celebrating his 20th birthday!

I love the proud look on Ms face when his dad opens the gift he made.
