Round Rock Express

Our family loves going to baseball games. We have been lucky enough to catch the Round Rock Express play a couple of times each season. The normal way we get to see a game is from the 'berm' - which is general admission in the left field grassy area.

Well, last Wednesday night (July 2), JC's job had an employee gathering at the ballpark that included sitting in a box suite. Holy cow - was that cool. Air conditioner and seats with such a great view that it was like you could touch the grass. Free sodas, pizza and burgers. My heavens, we all thought we had died and gone to baseball heaven.

We opted to sit out on the balcony the whole time so that we could watch the game - but inside the suite were a heard of kids watching cartoons and playing.

Everybody up...it's time for the 7th inning stretch!

After the game, we always head into the bleachers to run around. The kids like it cause they can get pretty close to the field and the player's dugout - but they also like to look for treasures.

This time while we were messing around in the bleachers, we happen to run into Reid Ryan. He is a hometown boy (that means from Alvin) that Jeff and his family grew-up with. It was so nice to catch up with him. The kids especially loved hearing him talk about Jeff's dad being his coach when he played little league, Jeff's mom being his Sunday School teacher and how their Uncle Chris was an awesome athlete in high school. They can not believe that he is really Nolan Ryan's son and think it is the greatest thing ever that he took them into the gift shop and let them each pick out a little treasure. They will remember this night forever.

So thank you to Simpler-Webb for treating us to a great night at the ball park. And most especially thank you to Reid Ryan for giving our kids a little glimpse into their past. It means so much that you took the time to share with them just a little of their family history. We are so so so blessed.
